So this is a bit late, but it was Derek's b-day on Saturday. However it wasn't the happiest of birthday's because this last week he had to get his appendix out! Yeah pretty crazy! He woke up with a pain on one side of his stomach on Sunday and then finally on TUESDAY night he decided to get it checked out, since it was still bugging him. So off we went to Instacare, which then told us to get a CT scan, who then sent us into the ER for surgery immediately. Yeah.. not exactly how he planned to spend his birthday and finals week.. We didn't do a whole lot that day due to the snow storm, and his slightly immovable state... but it was still fun. We saw 4 Christmas' which I thoroughly enjoyed and went out to his favorite- Rock Creek Pizza. Later some of his family came over for cake. Here is a picture of the lovely dessert I slaved away on all day.
Don't ask.... He couldn't decide between chocolate and yellow cake, soo.. it turned into this very tall, uh, mess.

Sounds like a great birthday!! Poor guy... that sucks!!! But Happy Birthday to him... though it's a little late! Oh, and the tree... we bought it from Festival of Trees last year... I SUCK at decorating this stuff! So sorry I am NO help!
I have felt so bad for Derek!! Glad he is doing better. Colby says he has been trying to not make him go up and down the stairs too much or lift anything heavy.
