Oh there are many reasons... Most of which are that we've been doing absolutely nothing in the cooler winter months besides wishing I was here:

Or Here:

Even here would be good enough (anyone insterested?)

Besides wishing oh so badly that I were going on a vacation, I've also been doing a whole lot of This:
Which then results to This:

I have been so incredibly busy and burnt out at work (if anyone doesn't know what I do for my job, lets just say that it can be VERY emotionally exhausting and since being pregnant, even physically exhausting...) Yes I am getting bigger- I can't believe I only have less then 3 months left! We do not feel ready at all! Due to my mildly, I mean extremely, shorter size this little girl sure likes to hang out in my ribs- which makes me want to do nothing but either of these by the end of the day!

Since I've been doing absolutely nothing besides working like crazy and then lying around in the evenings, my time gets mostly occupied with these:

(Yes I did get sucked in again... I really want Melissa to win! We'll see soon...)

Other then that, I have to admit that our life doesn't consist of a whole lot, besides trying to get ready for the baby- I definately am having hard time organizing and deep cleaning our house, deciding on her room decor, and shopping for cribs and other essential baby gear. (Oh boy are there A LOT of things out there) Advice please! What do many of you mommies recommend as essential items for the newborn? We have no older siblings to help us out and NO CLUE!

I'll come help you organize and pick stuff out! Please let me... I LOVE it! Let me help you! And lets got to St. George! Please? We need to hurry... baby will be coming soon! I guess we can go after she comes too! :-) I'll talk to you tomorrow and hopefully see you too! You're going to be the best mom!
Welcome back!! I cant believe how fast this baby is going to be here! We are really excited, esp to see what she looks like!! We should plan a St. George trip!! We were just down there... so nice!! And I TOTALLY get you on the rib kicking thing!! I never felt it with Ava, just Adrie... SO uncomfortable!! The things I used ALOT with the newborns are... bouncer, swing, bobby, snugli (baby bjorn), breast pump, and Lanolin... its a boob ointment!! HA! But you can really do with out any of these... except of courde the final two... I would say!! But u will do great!! No one is ever ready when they come!! Oh... and I am a BIG fan of the Bachelor!! WAHOO! Though I dont have a favorite!! Good Luck! Sorry this is soo long! oops!
Things I could not do without:
1. Breast Pump -- I have just a cheapo basic manual pump, but I use it every day. It's good to have if you need to nurse but the baby is asleep, and then you will have some stored for outings.
2. A swing -- we have a graco sweetpeace which I like a lot. You will want somewhere to put the baby down to give you a chance to brush your teeth and go to the bathroom!
3. A sleep positioner for the crib. Cohen would only sleep in my arms or in our bed at first and not in his crib -- but I got this and he has no problem now. It just makes them feel like they are being held.
There is a ton of baby CRAP out there and they like to make you think you need it all :) Good luck!
Congratulations on the baby girl coming! Girls are the best. The things I couldn't survive without are: a good bouncer for the first few months, a running stroller, and the book, Babywise. Also a good support group of friends and family to call when I had no idea what I was doing :) Good luck! You will be a great mom.
I would definitely get a swing. If you are going to breast feed, I highly recommend getting a dual electric pump. It makes it a TON better. They are a little pricey, but well worth it. I got a Medela and I would have died without it. Also, don't worry about what everyone says, just do what you feel is right. You are given the natural ability to nurture so you will do just great! (everyone says don't hold your baby too much....that is a load of BS, hold her because it goes so dang fast!) oh, and start buying diapers now!
Jess, I loved this post...SO cute. I've been real bad at blogging too. Booo. I can't keep up. I'm not sure I told you but congrats on having a baby. AND...I hate the bachelor. I was raging, angry, mad, frustrated and sad all in one. I hate Jason, I hate Molly, I hate ABC. I AM mad. And I get all riled up everytime I talk about it. I was so mad I didn't even watch the hour the next day. SOOOOO mad Jess, I can't even handle it. I feel so tricked into loving Jason. He ruined my hope that there was cute, kind, adoring men out there for me to aspire to. Turns out he's just a jack ass like the rest of them. Excuse my language, but I AM MAD.
Love you girl! Tell me your thoughts...you can email me at hollyscott_8@hotmail.com. I'll respond fast there:)
okay, first let me answer your question about where the pizza was from-- it is the gourmet vegetarian pizza from papa murphy's (take 'n bake), but with the red sauce (it usually comes with white alfredo sauce, which is very yummy but definitely NOT healthy :)). we all love it.
now, about baby stuff... when i first read this post about a week ago i didn't comment because i decided to write a whole post about my "essential" newborn items. and then i got thinking about it.... wanna know the truth? you actually do not NEED a whole ton. there are things that might be nice to have, things that make you more comfortable, but i really couldn't think of a lot of things that i would say are "essential." however, if you are breast feeding a pump is a good idea just so you can feel like you could get away in a pinch and not have your baby starve. i will pray that your nipples won't die like mine did, but there is probably a good chance that it will be super painful for the first little bit. so make sure to use lanolin (they'll give you some in the hospital) after every single feeding so you don't get to dry.
also, i thought those video baby monitors were so silly at first, but i actually really wish i would have had one (still do, in fact). it just would be so nice to be able to see what the baby is doing without having to chance going in the room and waking him/her up.
oh! there are these swaddling blankets made out of muslin that are SO wonderful. they are kind of pricey (like $30.00 or so for a package of 4), but they are seriously the best "blanket" for summer when it is too warm for an actual blanket but you want something covering your baby. i got mine at babinski's baby on foothill, but i've seen them in some of the other fancier baby boutiques around. highly recommend those. they are a great cover for nursing when it is warm, too.
that's all i can think of right now. you will quickly discover what things you really love and what things you can do without, and you will be great! good luck and i can't wait to see pictures of her when she is born
*toO dry
sorry, that would really bug me if i didn't fix it. i should've proofread.
I too was obsessed with the Bachelor until all the stupid drama at the end - what a flake!! If you still need help picking out baby gear, let me know...I'm obsessed with everything baby and there are a lot of things you really don't need.
